Steel weight formula
Theoretical weight is section area × length × density. A practical density of 7.85 g/cm³ is used for carbon and alloy steels.
Which steel density is used?
General carbon and alloy steel calculations use approximately 7.85 g/cm³. Actual scale weight may vary with manufacturing tolerance and surface condition.
Why were allowance fields removed?
The calculator uses the entered dimensions directly. Machining allowances must be specified for the relevant dimension in the drawing and order. Saw kerf consumes cutting-plan length; it is not an automatic diameter or thickness increase.
Does it round fractions up?
Each row shows exact weight and the next whole kilogram. The rounded grand total is the sum of individually rounded rows.
Is the result a quotation?
No. It is a geometric theoretical weight. Actual scale weight, stock, tolerance and certificate requirements are evaluated separately.
